Eastern Europe
We imported from Prince Reuss, single sire mated offspring of Leopould pure Yugoslavian stock and Woburn x Yugo stock. Marko was for a decade a world record S.C.I Trophy, came from Prince Reuss and was a Yugo x Woburn stag.
Through Prince Reuss, we also imported direct from Yugoslavia and Hungary including the now legendary Heinrich.
Since those days, we have reinvested in Easterns through the importation of deer from Romania. These deer have exceptional antler and every one imported has been very good indeed.
In addition, Maximilian represents a new era of Eastern breeding – 250kg at two years and 392kg at six years. His 2yr sons have been up to 262kg L.W. and up to 48½” wide. Astonishing statistics.
Sergei, Romany and Alexei all Romanians have contributed significantly to a new dimension in liveweight and antler now more so than Sergei who swept all the records away in 2008 at the January sale with Lot 4, a Sergei Max cross with a massive 11.25kg H/A purchase by John Carter and Lot 1 a Sergei Max cross purchased by Jim Scourgie at 10.25kg H/A and over 250kg liveweight.
New Sires
The stud has introduced a number of superb new sires. Maximilian II out of a Romany dam. Milan a Maximilian Sergei cross, Heinrich VI a seriously exciting son of Heinrich out of a Maximilian daughter, Ramon a pure Hungarian descendant of Kapos, this year we have added a super star son of Sergei named Vladimir, huge in body and antler.
New Owners
Stanfield has sold its capital Eastern herd to Wilkins Farming Ltd. Mike Wilkins is totally dedicated as we were to the Eastern deer and we are very happy with their potential going forward. We have not sold our 2yr Stags and will have a separate Eastern Sire sale in January and retain the bulk of our semen stocks which are for sale.
